If you can not appreciate the lead performance, you are not a true film fan, it was greater than anything Brando ever did.
Why? Cuz he mimicked an illness? SH as portrayed in this movie is the blandest lead character I've seen in years. Some morons actually compared this crap to My Left Foot. The difference is DDL created a fiery character that happened to have a disability. Redmayne mimicked a disability and was flat out dull before the onset of ALS. TTOE isn't a film, it's carefully calculated, assembly line Oscar-bait crap.
