who cries every time?

i'm not sure if it's just me because i'm wheelchair bound and even though i don't have ALS (i have spina bifida) i CRY LIKE A BABY every time i see this film. people will never understand what it feels like to be trapped in your own body.

reply

I am not on a wheelchair and yes i cry every time i see this wonderful movie ( or i prefere to call it Art)
This one give me hope in life
I hope you get well

reply

She won't. It's life long I believe

reply

i don't, because although his disability has obviously made his life very hard, he has nevertheless had an extremely successful career, bestselling books, three lovely children, several grandchildren etc. His disabilty has not stopped him achieving far more than many able bodied people can. For that reason, thr film does not make me feel sad.

Fame isn't everything.

reply

Fame isn't everything.

well said. i too have spina bifida and would rather have my health over fame ANY DAY. heck, the fame broke up his marriage.

reply

Fame didn't break up his marriage. His marriage broke up because his wife was having an affair with another man, and he fell for another woman. It happens all the time to able bodied people.

reply

that's incorrect. 1) stephen basically gave jane permission to be with jonathon even though they never had a relationship while married (aka she never cheated) Jane has stated many times the biggest strain on the relationship was stephen basically being her 4th child, and also having a god complex once he became world famous. his ego grew too much. and then of course, he left jane for elaine.

reply

She did have a physical relationship with Jonathan before Stephen left her, and it was hard for him. i think jane underestimates the effect it had on him. it did contribute to the breakdown of their marriage.

reply

nobody said that fame was everything. or anything, come to that. But being able to pursue a career that you love, and achieve great success in it, and having lovely children and grandchildren, are thIngs to be happy about. Nothing i have seen to do with Stephen Hawking suggests that his has been an unhappy life despite his disability. he has had difficulties, but he has risen above them. he has been able to achieve a lot more than many able bodied people.
