From there it was tear city.

Pretty much, it's a real tearjerker this film

reply

it didn't affect me like that. i admire how he has coped with his disability and managed to continue with his career etc. The film inspires me with admirationr rather than sadness,

reply

you're lucky. i pretty much start at the croquet game and it's on and off like that for the rest of the film. EVERY.TIME.

reply

I would hate that. Don't like tearjerkers. And the croquet scene is made up and din't happen in real life, so it left me unmoved. In Reality, Stephen and jane had ony been out once before he got diagnosed with motor neuron, and when he asked her out again, she already knew he had it, so there was no big drama like in the film.

reply

well excuse me if i turn off my logic while watching a film. 'the imitation game' is almost entirely made up and still heartbreaking to watch. also, as a disabled person myself, we're not here to be your inspiration porn, so you can stop with that. we're just as capable as everyone else of doing things just in a different way. we don't need to be applauded for waking up every morning.

reply

the Imitation game was rubbish, profoundly irritating and an an insult to those who worked at Bletchley. the changes in theory of Everything are trivial by comparison. I find Stephen Hawking an inspirational figure rather than an object of pity, and I would have thought that he would prefer that. Who wouldn't rather be admired than pitied? And kindly don't tell me how i should feel about Hawking. You don't own Stephen hawking just because you happen to have a disability yourself. You may prefer pity to admiration and respect, but that doesn't mean he necessarily does.

You may prefer pity to admiration and respect, but that doesn't mean he necessarily does.

considering i just said we are not your inspiration porn aka we don't need your pity, you just proved how much this movie went over your head.

reply

I said i felt admiration for hawking, not pity. And who is 'we'? i didn't say i felt anything for you, and i don't. the film isn't about you. It is about hawking. And. i doubt he wants anyone's pity. As for telling me the movie went over my head - frankly i think you're the one whose head it went over.

That scene was sad, but I didn't underatand it fully. He kept missing the mark. My question is, is he not giving Jane a turn? He keeps going until Jane takes aways the ball from him. Is he trying to say, "there, I played. Now leave."

What promoted Jane to take away the ball?

reply

Wow...

The film did not move me at all....
