Just curious

I haven't seen this movie but I've read some reviews on it. And by reading some of these reviews I just got the distinct impression that the men in this movie are typically being portrayed as a bunch of idiotic and sexist jerks who are constantly being outsmarted at every turn by the two main women throughout the film. So am I reading these reviews correctly then?

Now before anyone on here decides to jump all over me for being some oversensitive male who can't ever take seeing any man/men in movies being shown in a negative light, or in ever seeing the boys getting outsmarted by the girls, please allow me to explain. I'm not at all attempting to put across in my post the message and/or mentality that says, "Oh, us poor men have it so bad in the way that we're all portrayed and seen in movies by women". I know perfectly well that there are many men in life who are obviously very sexist towards women. I'm not saying either that men cannot somehow be outsmarted by women, as I'm sure that it happens many times. And I'm certainly not implying that men shouldn't ever be portrayed in a negative way in films as that would be an utterly insane view for me or any other man to have. What I AM saying however is that it's very much possible for men in movies to also be subjected to certain negative stereotypes just as women and any other group of people are subjected to their own.

So what I'm really asking here is whether or not this kind of negative stereotyping of men can be applied to this particular movie?

I didn't feel that way about the movie. All the antagonists are male and they do keep on failing to catch the girls, but I didn't think it was done in a way to say "all men are stupid" or to be anti-men or anything. There are also a few men who help them along the way (not to give anything away). Hope you end up seeing the moive, I really enjoyed it.

Thank you very much for you're reply. I also appreciate, since you've already seen the movie yourself, giving me you're own personal view/thoughts about it. And while I'm certainly not going out to see this in the theatres, I'll more than likely catch the movie when it makes it's way onto cable.

My impression is that EVERYone is stupid in this movie, regardless of gender. (I don't think this is what people are talking about when they say the equality of the sexes.)

As I watch the clips and trailer I find the "jokes" very misogynistic. Although on the surface they appear to be saying men are dumb, what the point really seems to be is that women are yucky, to use a school yard term to match the tone of this film. This film is an insult to the intelligence of every 21st century man and woman.

It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.
