"If you don't like it, don't watch it!"
Question: How would I know if I liked it or not if I don't watch it?
shareQuestion: How would I know if I liked it or not if I don't watch it?
shareThat expression is normally used for a television series and not a movie. It makes more sense that way. If you watch a few episodes of a television series and don't like it, then you should stop watching the rest of the episodes. However, if it is a movie, then that phrase doesn't really apply. Once you've watched the movie, there is no more movie left to not watch unless it has sequels.
This is why I think that it is a flaw to judge a movie's popularity by how much money it makes. If you pay to see a movie and don't enjoy it, you pay the same amount as if you did enjoy it. You don't get a refund if you didn't like it. Therefore, if a movie makes a lot of movie, it doesn't mean that many people thought it was good after they watched it. It just means that a lot of people thought it would be good before they watched it.
Likewise, if a movie makes little money, it doesn't mean that many people hated it. It just means that many people didn't give it a chance. However, the few people that did watch it, could have loved it.
You're looking for rational discussion on IMDb? Good luck with that!
shareProblem is when viewers who legitimately watched the movie and then thought it wasn't very good are bashed by feminists who's defend it by saying "your a misogynist!!" which is just a petty attack.
Damage control is rather embarrassing.
That applies to TV shows after a person has watched multiple episodes and they decide they didn't like it, and it applies to movies after they've seen the first few movies im a franchise and didn't like any of them. It can also apply if a person doesn't like any movie within a specific genre.
Examples:
Troll - "I hate The Big Bang Theory, all the episodes aren't funny at all I've been watching since season 1"
Person - "If you don't like it, don't watch it!"
Troll - "All the Fast and Furious movies were so bad, this one was no exception, I watched all of them in theaters opening weekend when will they stop making these?"
Person - "If you don't like it, don't watch it!"
Troll - "All buddy cop comedies are terrible and this one was no different my god can they stop making these?"
Person - "If you don't like it, don't watch it!"
Well, it applied to this movie too, because it bombed badly. People didn't like it and people did not watch it. Flop.
shareSome movies are hated just because of the actor and actress in it or just for the plot ... So.
Word of mouth and critical reception can have a large impact on box office. So in that case, the amount of money a movie makes can indicate its quality.

The sun is shining... but the ice is slippery.
Naw, there are tons of movies that make a lot of money each year and they are garbage. The reverse for many smaller movies that people are too lazy to check into, but sit back and complain that there are no quality movies. Difference is that you can have a bad movie, but if you pour enough money into marketing it, sheep will feel like they are missing something and line up to see it. Fortunately, it did not work with this movie, but Mall Cop 2 banked money.
