I not trying to talk s**t about the heat but It kinda has the same concept
-two women working together to stop the bad guy
-they are being chased
-they go on random spree's of craziness
Although they do have differences they are alot the same in many different ways. But Overall I'm just excited to see Reese Witherspoon go out of her comfort zone again and do a comedy. Definitely will be see this one
I can't stand her either, but anyway I see her movies to giving chances. So far she's still the same annoying character in different situations. I feel that Melissa has potential but as far as she's still keeping on doing the same, she'll never hit the nail. Also at a lesser -but igniting- level is Rebel.
Is rare that a movie had me with just the trailer but this movie seems to have it all for success (if the same kind of humor shown is maintained through the movie). SofĂa keeps with the latina stereotype but is ok because she makes the perfect match to Reese's character.
From some years backwards, the cinema tried to create a female starring duet to recreate old buddy movies and, for me, all landed flat without any charm. This one so far, is the perfect chance to redeem them selves. I'm not hoping on hot pursuit 2, 3 and etc. I'm just wanting this to be the great female movie all wanted.
She wasnt bad in St. Vincent with bill murry, otherwise I cant stand her either and pray they dont put her in the new ghostbusters movie they are planning
This can't possibly be any better than The Heat. It just might be just as bad if not worse than The Heat. I'm betting on the former. Looks no different any other crappy Reese Witherspoon movies. These movies are examples of lazy comedies that puts in no effort anymore.
Perhaps it is release of the amazing movie "Wild" Reese Witherspoon was in or the whole Legally Blonde/Miss Congeniality thing along with my finding out about this movie and wanting to see it for some reason and then deciding I kind of want to watch "the Heat" now. But I just have to say something that has been in my subconcious for many years. Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon are completely different and great actresses.... But I just have to say this...their careers paths and movie choices seem to me to be very similar(even if there not at all similar). Perhaps it is just the Legally Blonde and Miss Congeniality thing(released about the same time) that I keep making this subconcious comparison. I liked Miss Congeniality better than Legally Blonde...why do I even compare those two...they really aren't even the same type of movie..weird. Well I'm rambling.
Ok so back to my inane subconcious point...Sandra Bullock career took off way before Reese Witherspoons did.
Some great early movies of Sandra Bullock's... The Net 1995 While You Were Sleeping 1994 Speed
Reese Witherspoon wasn't really in any decent movies that I know of until after 2000 besides perhaps Pleasantville
Then in 2000 / 2001 ....miss congeniality and legally blonde were released
Then some really good movie Reese Witherspoon was in like Sweet Home Alabama and Walk the Line happened.
Perhaps when these good movies came out(Sweet Home Alabama and Walk the Line) is when I really started the comparing the two for some weird reason(why do I do this IDK)....
I guess the reason I do is centered around MC and LB....but besides those two movies Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock also star in some really good and unique romantic comedies that are almost too good to be considered ordinary romantic comedies because of the unique romantic dramatic elements or other unique elements in them(such as While You Were Sleeping, Sweet Home Alabama, and The Proposal....all excellent movies in my opinion). Then there is the fact that both Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock have immense star power yet they have been in only a few really well known movies in their lives. Usually movie stars will have a spurt where they are really popular for a while and then go off the radar. Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock have both been in some really good movies in the last 20 years...but they are spaced out into almost a perfect amount of time between those really good movies....giving them a consistent superstar quality reputation even though they have only been in a few really good movies(Sandra Bullock probably has been in more really good movies than Reese Witherspoon though).
Example of the really good/or well known movies comparison Sandra Bollock 1994-1995..While You Were Sleeping, The Net 2000 - Miss Congeniality 2009 - The Proposal/The Blind Side 2011 - Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close 2013 - Gravity
Then Reese Witherspoons...
Pleasantville-1998 Legally Blonde-2001 Sweet Home Alabama-2002 Walk the Line - 2005 Wild - 2014
Then this whole "The heat" and "Hot pursuit" thing happens and my subconcious is going crazy saying Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock are such similar actresses. Yet they are not similar at all...they are very different and unique but do have a lot of similarities in regards to movie choices and superstar quality reputation they have and have made.
The thing is after hearing about the hot pursuit movie...I now actually want to watch "The Heat" ...I really had no desire to watch "The Heat" beforehand. And the thing is I think even though "The heat" and "Hot Pursuit" are very similar movies on the surface...I think they are going to be very different movies with very unique storylines.
You're joking right? Freeway and Election are two of Reese's best and they are both pre 2000's. Honestly, this doesn't look as good as the heat but we will see.
I agree with Cablebot about Freeway and Election. Reese first hooked me back in 1992 in "The Man in the Moon" (will always be my favorite Reese Witherspoon movie). She also did fine in "Fear" and "Cruel Intentions".
To me, it went south after Legally Blonde and I didn't think her performance in Walk The Line was anything special. Not special enough to warrant an Oscar. I guess she had to do Wild just to get some credibility back. You can possibly chalk it up to bad career choices I guess
