So, this was supposed to be set around Dallas, right?
Here's one thing the movie got wrong - there are no casinos in Texas (besides one way down by the border of Mexico, and I'm not sure how). Gambling is still illegal here.
I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there is not a casino near or in Dallas, at least not one that big (maybe some underground ones, or the online ones, but definitely not like in the movie).
Not a big deal, I just thought it was funny. We always have to drive to Oklahoma if we want to go to a casino!

There is Kickapoo casino in Eagle Pass Texas and Winstar and Choctaw casino in Oklahoma near Dallas. The movie didn't take place all in Dallas, that was the destination. So no I don't think the movie got that wrong.

A related geography question: the synopsis mentions Cooper's dad was a policeman in San Antonio. Did they mention this somewhere or were there geographical sights I missed, or is the supposition in error?

I would have to drive 10 minutes to find one, i never do though.
If I felt the need to throw a random portion of my money away I could do that at home.
