book vs miniseries

As anyone read the book before watching this series?

We won't be able to watch this in the states until Nov!

I was just wondering how it compares to the book. Frankly, I hated the book (too boring, characters not consistent with the orig novel, etc) so I hope this miniseries improves on the book. It's the only PandP sequel that's made it to TV that I've heard of (I'd like to see the lovely Carrie Bebris mysteries brought to TV -that would make a nice tv show!), so I can't wait to see it.

If you go through some of these earlier threads, you'll find that a lot of us have read the book. Most of us had very little use for it.

The series was OK. I didn't love it, but it was better than the book.

But we will have to agree to disagree about the Carrie Bebris books. I read the first one and thought it was just awful.

I am a huge PD James and Jane Austen fan. This book did not work either as a classic James mystery or a JA continuation. Neither fish nor fowl. The film was a bit of an improvement in that it moved more quickly and featured my ideal Darcy. Otherwise, meh. I read one Bebris book, the first, and that was enough for me. The villain was obvious from his first appearance. Never picked up another one again.
