Colonel Fitzwilliam is too good looking

FW is supposed to be "not handsome", so why cast a David Tennant lookalike?

"The dead do not suffer the living to pass"
"You will suffer me"

reply

Amen. That actor should have been cast as Darcy. He even has Darcy's personality.

reply

He also confuses me because the last time he wore Regency clobber he was the cad George Osborne in Vanity Fair!

reply

And he was a redcoat (not the Butlins kind) in P&P95. THAT'S confusing.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

reply

True, but then the 1995 adaptation cast Anthony Calf, who was extremely dishy at that time!

reply

I love Tom Ward and would've loved to have seen him as Darcy. He was too good for Fitzwilliam

reply

True, Colonel Fitzwilliam was described in the book as not very good looking; but he was also described (and shown) as pleasant, thoughtful, lively, outgoing, and generally likeable. In this production, he's a rude, pompous bully. His looks are not the only discrepancy.

Tell me the truth. Are we still in the game?

reply

I agree that he looked like Tenant and he was good looking, I wish they had chosen him to play Darcy instead.

reply

I don't find that he looks anything like David Tennant. Are you referring to a specific role Tennant was in?

reply

I didn't find him attractive at all. He played that pompous puckered face role quite well.
