You can see they all visited her in prison all those years and helped her morally. It would be a lot harder for her if she would be alone.
Father was young and not in love with mother. She basically seduced him. She was 24 and he was 17. So they separated. And then mother went crazy and limited his visitation rights. And told him she was very sick.
But he still was seeing her and gave money. Then he married and moved on. But still supported her after court and in prison. And he said one thing. That when everyone were shocked seeing her walking in court - he was happy to see her in good health and walking.
You know I dont know all the details. My Mother was interested in this so I played an HBO documentary about it for her - I think it was called "MOmmie Dead, Mommie Dearest". ANyway, I was partly paying attention while we watched it. It seemed to me the entire catalyst was the Mother. Dee Dee I believe her name was. She was bananas. If I remember correctly, even her own parents said she was nuts. The Father - he seemed like a nice guy. He would have been just like everyone else, taking the Mother's word - and believing her. I don't think he had a clue as to what was really going on. I don't remember the Step-mother.
They very well and in details show what happened. Literally the way it was. Its a good show.
Then watch this documentary "The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard".
Step-mother was not mentioned a lot in documentaries and tv show. If was at all. I didn't even know there was a sister. It's fathers family. They only mentioned Father briefly. Because he wasn't that much in her life. Mother basically took daughter and was moving around. Saying to father she will cut out any relationship if he would push too hard. So he kinda didn't.
Its only in this documentary we see "inside" situation and that Gypsy Rose actually has relationship with her step-mom and sister who both supported her and visited in prison. And I think she even calls her Mom now. She seems like a nice woman.
