Thoughts/Questions on Zootopia (mild spoilers)
1. Why only mammals? What happened to birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and insects? Are they all still wild? Or just living on the fringes of civilization? I mean, I could kinda see why insects, and maybe fish, wouldn't be given sentience, but why not the others? π€
2. The skunk-butt rug... At first I thought it was amusing, but then the implications set in. All mammals are supposed to be equal, which means a skunk would be like a human... So... π³
3. Did Nick Wilde remind anyone else of Disney's Robin Hood? Both foxes, sly, cunning, witty, commit crimes for a living, etc... Oh, I just looked on trivia, and Robin Hood was inspiration for Nick. Cool. π¦
The original alternate storyline. I'll summarize parts of it here garnered from deleted scenes. So Nick Wilde was supposed to be the main character, and we'd see the world through his eyes. The thing is, all predators had these shock-collars to keep them under control. Whenever they get over excited or angry or any other strong emotion, they get shocked. Nick had the great idea to make a theme park catered to predators to allow them to take off their collars and be themselves, but he had trouble getting a loan.
Questions/ Thoughts on this:
1. I would have loved a Nick-centric movie.
2. The shock collars... Sheez, isn't that a bit dark for a kid's movie? It's rather messed up. Maybe that's why they dropped the idea.
