What true story this is based on?
I thought this movie was really good. So much tension! You knew something bad was going to happen at any second.

It looks though that the movie matches almost nothing of the true story other than the fact that, a couple heads into the woods, and one gets killed by a bear. So, the rest was 100% fiction.
In the true story, it's the female who got killed while the guy acted heroically. He physically fought the bear to the point where the bear let go of his wife. Of course, the bear went after him as well, and he fought until the bear left them alone, and got them both out of the woods. Unfortunately, she died of her injuries.
Now, in the movie, they made the guy to be a complete idiot while the girl was a badass. I mean, the guy was crying like a baby about how he's going to die, and she was the one trying to get him to calm down. Absolutely nothing like the true story.
Movies like this annoy me. It's a good movie, but don't say something like "based on a true story" when it has almost zero resemblance to what really happened? I think the real events would have also been very compelling, but I guess they had to make the female the hero.
