Comparison to Takashi Miike's "Visitor Q"

Something I right away noticed when I finished watching this film for the first time is my realization of the similarities I saw between Moebius and Visitor Q. They both seem to work with the same topic of a dysfunctional family, and not just that, but taken to an extreme with the "dysfunctional qualities" within the family.

As Visitor Q technically already was a remake as well to Pier Paolo Pasolini's Teorema, I feel as though Miike took Visitor Q to a whole another level, especially with the disturbing qualities, such as rigor mortis, incestuous fornication, and of course, physical abuses. Though, as it is obvious and upfront, Miike took the "dark comedy" route with the topic and made an absurd comedy film out of it, which in my personal opinion, turned out brilliantly.

I believe Kim Ki-Duk pretty much did "his version" of Teorema & Visitor Q. And just like Miike, he made a dark comedy film with the "dysfunctional family" topic. Except Moebius was more macabre and didn't really seem to have the over-the-top qualities that Visitor Q seemed to have. Of course, as I've stated, the film IS a dark comedy, but those "comedic moments" seem to be conveyed mainly through their facial expressions(as there were zero dialogues and words spoken in the film). And the "silent film" aspect of the film is also what made the film stand on its own, even with the similarities to Teorema and Visitor Q.

All in all, I personally love both Visitor Q and Moebius, though Visitor Q always has a special place in my heart.

So, what are your thoughts on "Visitor Q vs. Moebius"?

I also was reminded of _Visitor Q_ when watching _Moebius_! However, I find that _Visitor Q_ was a picnic compared to _Moebius_. Thanks for the post; I'd never known about _Teorema_.
