Easily the best film of 2016....

thus far.

Not even close...maybe only The Witch.

This was a great film...no doubt about it.

reply

Yeah, this might be a classic for me. I loved every second of it. I didn't really want it to end.

reply

I definitely had a permanent smile across my face pretty much throughout the film.

I thought it was superbly written and the cast didn't let Linklater down. This is up there with his many classics. I still think Bernie is his best film, but this easily the best film that I've come across so far in 2016.

Linklater has really been firing on all cylinders lately....especially since 2011.

Bernie
Before Midnight
Boyhood
Everybody Wants Some

Looking forward to his next film already.

Yeah I havent enjoyed a movie like this in a long time. Anything more than popcorn flicks are so rare these days

reply

Not the best, for me, but easily the most fun movie of the year so far. I had low expectations from the trailer but the movie itself was very charming, funny, and lovingly crafted. Cult status is certain.

reply

I thought it was boring. The story is pure fiction and not relatable at all, there was no story behind all this, etc.

Not a good movie.

reply

It's really not fiction. Director Richard Linklater based this on his own college experience. He mentioned this in several interviews. The movie was fantastic!

reply

I'm not sure I'd call it the best film of 2016, but it's closer to that than it is to fiction. That's pretty much exactly how the first weekend at college before classes start goes.

Granted I started in '96 rather than '80, but we didn't have cell phones so the way they communicated was the same as when I went to school. There was IMing going on, but that was more a substitute for a land line call than a new channel of communication (i.e. you still had to be sitting in your room to use it). It seemed to ring pretty true to me. What seemed not relateable or fake?

reply

I disagree. It's not even in the top ten. It tried to be Animal House and Dazed and Confused, and failed at both.

Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar and doesn't.

reply

The Witch wasn't even close to as good of a film as this. Just my two cents.

My body's a cage, it's been used and abused...and I...LIKE IT!!

yeah, "easily"

The following statement is true:
The above statement is false.

This movie is complete trash and nowhere near the best of '16.
