Maybe i missed it but in the States we require Fire Escape access to a stairway for anything above 1st floor..i stepped away 3x for maybe 10 seconds each time during the film maybe they covered this seemingly simple error when i was out. Aside from that..i found Tbe Snare VERY GOOD and creepy. It Reminded me of LAKE MUNGO which imho one of the scariest films ever.
No there are the same clear requirements in Britain and it wasn't addressed in the film that I noticed. Given the nature of the film you could argue the building was built as a trap or a supernatural explanation, the same as the lack of any life nearby on quite an extensive accommodation block. It's also highly unusual for a lift/elevator to stop directly in a flat/apartment - and with a window giving you a view into the property as you go past too!
Agreed. The fact you pointed out the supernatural element "Trumps" (VERB not our unfortunately new Commander in Chief) all potential logical solutions: riping the carpet to make rope, relentlessly hammering through the floors till close enough to jump etc...Perhaps they should have made that more clear with scenes depicting the Fire Escape visible when they first arrive but then suddenly inexplicably disappearing or every attempt at making rope unraveling (pun intended). SIDE NOTE: it's reassuring to know our cousin's across the pond have the same Fire Safety requirements in the event on some rare occasion I find myself in South Hampton on the 13th floor of a High Rise with a broken elavtor....on an empty stomach.
Yeah, this movie at first seemed like it was going to be good, but them it started showing those bizarre scenes of kids and whatnot outside the apartment. They should have just kept the images inside the apartment. It's almost like the cinematographer was like hey we need more outside shots. But going outside, even though it didn't make much sense, it broke up claustrophobia. I read that the director made the actors eat cold soup until they were nauseous, because the mood on set was too lite. He went that far to keep the mood going, but should have edited those scenes out to keep the flow and also shorten up the movie.
I don't think so. The last thing it said was for her to "submit", which if you watch till the end, it looks like she submitted to her father's(Stepfather's?) advances.
yes i did watch till the end BUT am still not convinced, submit is usually a term used in religion eg submit to God etc. so not sure if it was the evil force looking for more submitters and she was a great candidate? i might make this a separate topic.
