Not Believable as a Couple

I had some misgivings about the casting when the trailers were on TV. But I thought I'd give it a shot while home sick.

Sorry - I just never bought these two as a couple - no matter how many times they gazed lovingly in each others eyes. I do think the flash-back characters were great.

And all the irritants in the plot? Pushy agents, bizarre buyers, the so-called terrorist, were just a little TOO irritating. I especially found the Nixon character pushy to the point of being unbelievable (on top of a bad, bad haircut).

Now, I'm sure those of you have dealt with the NYC real estate market can relate better than this suburban Pennsylvanian can. But for me this was just acceptable entertainment.

I disagree. I thought they seemed very comfortable with each other, just like a real couple married for over forty years. I wonder if the two actors know each other.

I found them very believable as a real couple, maybe because my wife and I are retired and not far from the age of the characters here. And we occasionally talk about moving from our residence of 30 years because it is too big and she worries that negotiating the stairs might get to be an issue.

But I say, let's wait and see if the stairs become an issue. I enjoy the exercise I get going up and down several times a day when the weather isn't conducive to outside exercise.

Funny....I thought they were totally believable as a couple. Maybe you shouldn't project your own bigotry on the characters.

Why are you assuming the OP is a bigot? There are many times that lead actors have no chemistry and viewers don't buy they as a couple. She did feel the flashback couple were great together.

Other than the fact that Freeman seemed a tad too old for Keaton, I saw nothing wrong in their portrayal of a couple that had been married for forty years and were still very much each other's best friend.

Morgan Freeman is only 9 years older than Keaton. Not that unusual at all.
