yeah, apparently the earlier attack on Kate by the shark (when they were still on the floor of the ocean) actually did happen presumably killing her. this part of the movie i found really disturbing/heartbreaking.

I thought it looked like she might have just been knocked out and pushed somewhere away from the cage. I thought it was strange that the rescue divers didn't go look for her.

Did they explain why the boat moved away and went out of the radio range? At first I thought the light she was following was going to turn out to be a jellyfish or something.
