One thing this show has over SWTCW

No annoying Tom Kane narration to open every single episode with.

That is a plus.

Another plus is the fact they're airing the episodes in chronological order instead of sending fans to the internet to figure out how the events of each episode fit into the timeline.

An even better plus is that all, or most, episodes of Rebels further the overall story, whereas Clone Wars had several "throw away" episodes.

I don't quite know about that. I like both shows, but Rebels definitely had episodes that felt like filler material, that we didn't really need to see happen.

I'm curious (and somewhat fearful, as a fan), to see where the show goes in it's apparently final season.

reply

Yeah, I'm holding out hope that one day we'll get an 'ultimate collection' of The Clone Wars with the movie, all 5 seasons, and the 'lost missions' all included and ALL presented and organized chronologically. That would be something.

It would be nice if they finally made the episodes for the 'Dark Desciple' story arc as well.

The only thing about The Clone Wars that I feel it has 'over' Rebels is that it was willing/allowed to get a little more violent, and it was willing/allowed to sometimes kill off fairly key supporting/featured characters.

I keep hoping that as the show continues that Rebels is able to truly go a bit more into that direction.

The second half of Season 3 (ep 12 onward), Seasons 4-5, and Lost Missions are in proper order. The jumbled mess comes with Seasons 1-2 and Season 3's first half, makes Real Adventures of Johnny Quest and Sliders look coherant. I agree it is pretty silly we fans have to research the internet for a proper order and if watching on DVD, interchange various seemingly random discs from different season, though luckily with netflix you can just pick whatever you want. The order is pretty nuts...

Season 2 Ep 16
Season 1 Ep 16
The Clone Wars Feature
Season 3 Ep 1 & Ep 3
Season 1 Eps1-5
Season 3 Ep 2
Season 1 Eps 6-15 & Eps 17-21
Season 2 Eps 1-3, Eps 17-19, Eps 4-14, & Eps 20-22
Season 3 Eps 5-7, Ep 4, & Ep 8
Season 1 Ep 22
Season 3 Eps 9-11
Season 2 Ep 15

Yea would like at least a box set off all the episode, including Lost Missions, and the movie together. Put in chronological order would be great too. Would be a fantastic bonus if we got some of the other episodes like Dark Disciple and Son of Dathomir animated and finished too. Not holding my breath though

Don't see how Rebels is just has "one thing" better than TCW. A lot of fanboys seem to be unwilling to accept this show solely because it is "different".

I disagree. I liked the narration. It was cool in my opinion.

Agreed. It was a spoken version of the "opening crawl," so definitely classic Star Wars, and it provided context in a quick and timely fashion.

reply

That was Tom Kane? Lol... Yeah I agree, that narration was pretty annoying.

I'm still on Season 4 of Clone Wars so I haven't seen a lot of the stories yet, maybe he gets better? lol.

reply

I'm torn about that.
I didn't like the opening narrations for being too bombastic buuuuut... Tom Kane voices M1-4X in Star Wars The Old Republic, Forex being a pro-republic propaganda machine/super battle droid and he uses the same tone as Forex as he does with the TCW narrations.
So when I'm annoyed by the narrations, I just tell myself it's Forex, still functionnal after several millenia, who's heading a Republic propaganda program ^^

Or that you don't know exactly what's going to happen with these characters.

reply

I liked the Narration for the war stories because it suddenly became like propaganda films.
