Kate Winslet whose character, Tilly, returns to her small town in Australia to transform the women and exact revenge on those who did her wrong. (Tilly fled the town as a child after being accused of murder!) Along her path of revenge and possible redemption, Tilly unexpectedly finds love in the charming Aussie native, Hemsworth.
Just finish reading the novel, woah so many emotions. I hope everything goes right with this film because this is one hell of a part of Kate. With this and Triple Nine, she will be talk of Hollywood.
I was not talking about in term of Oscar. I am saying that recently people have started to taken her for granted. I mean same thing happened with Cate Blanchett but she came back with a bang. I know she won Oscar for Blue Jasmine but in terms of performance and character that was really an interesting character, something new for Cate and I am sure for her fans must be exciting.
So all in all, I am saying that I am ready to see her in some serious action, like Hideous Kinky, Holy Smoke and Jude. They are all not Oscar baity roles but as an artist of Kate's calibre, they showcase her talent best and as fan it is exciting to see her.
I always like her films and choices except for few which I can count on my fingers and The Dressmaker looks like such a complex role. I mean Tilly has so many emotional arcs, her relationship with her mother, with Ted and town's people and back story and climax are so unbelievably good. That's why I am exciting to see Kate in a role like this.

I agree it seems a really interesting role but i'm worried about the director and the script of this movie. You know Labor Day was panned by critics cause the plot was weird and too slow. A Little Chaos is poorly directed and lacking of pace according some critics so i don't know what to think about The Dressmaker at this point. We will see!

Great suggestion @dbt_n, @trytrytry you should watch Proof directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, what a film. And also watch How to Make an American Quilt by her, it is not interesting as Proof, atleast for me but nonetheless it was a good movie. So I am putting my faith in Moorhouse that she will not let us down in terms of direction. She is also directing after many years so I am thinking there is something good in the script of The Dressmaker that attracts her to direct it because novel is really good.
