No US distribution
This was shown at Berlin and no studio took up on it for distribution. Not a good sign.

shareWasn't a clip just previewed to potential buyers? It's still in post.
It probably won't even be ready by Cannes.
I think they put together about 10 minutes of footage to give a general gist of the film to buyers. Other films were bought but not The Dressmaker as of now. Hopefully this debuts at TIFF around the same time of the Australian release and this can build buzz.
shareOh no. Do you know which films were bought?
shareDo you think it's just the rough cut that didn't hook distributors yet since the film finished two months ago, or it's just seems like it's going to be bad? Has there even been any similar case before? I really hope that the film turns out brilliant.

Awww, that's too bad. But who knows, maybe in the months to come, things will improve.
shareSome informations about The Dressmaker in this article: http://if.com.au/2015/04/16/article/Aussie-director-to-compete-in-Cannes/ZREAVKOFFB.html
shareWow, thanks. It's good to hear Maslin is excited about how The Dressmaker is turning out.
shareI'm pretty sure it won't get a release date in USA but it's not so negative because Americans can't fully appreciate an Aussie movie as well as British people, the producer won't destroy this movie for those silly Americans! Very good job Sue Maslin and Jocelyn Moorehouse!. It will open in Europe and many other markets next year. Also in my country! Can't wait.
