SPOILER! the sorghum....
Why didnt they drown the first time they went in?
shareThe first time they went in weat, not sorghum.
shareApparently sorghum is less dense than wheat, but I'm not sure why he was unable to call out nor utter a sound to Tilly, when he was supposed to have drowned. There was just a (literally) deathly silence.🐭
shareIn the book, they mention that when they jumped into the wheat, they just landed on it, but the sorghum was less dense, like you said, and he just sank straight to the bottom of it, so it was all covering him.
share...not to mention sorghum is a summer crop and not grown anywhere near Victoria, where the movie is set.
Another common mistake in rural-based movies is the arrow-straight and up and back style crops, which are achieved by GPS guidance.
Nitpicky I know.
