The ending was a bit off for me

There are many things I liked about the movie (Kate Winslet, OMG what a woman, and what a talent!... the score, the cinematography, the tone), but the ending somehow didn't work for me. I understand that she wanted revenge, and she accomplished that with the costumes. But burning the whole town down??

Maybe there's someone who understood why that was necessary, and how it is justifiable?

Bad Karma? She's already lost everyone that ever mattered to her, a person who has nothing left to lose is extremely dangerous.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*
Bear in mind that this entire town completely *beep* her over ever since childhood. Whether it was lying about her to the authorities, dobbing her in for their own safety, completely neglecting her poor mother on top of the hill. Tilly only had 2 people in that town that she cared for and they both die, and instead of the rest of the town mourning for her, they all blame her, saying that she is cursed. They all took advantage of Tilly for their own personal use (the dresses) but then threw her under the bus once things started to go to *beep* To me, burning a small one street town is a great way to show them what it's like to lose everything you have.
