She was fantastic. I loved her as the mom in the movie more than the book, and the relationship she had with Tilly was so good. She was eccentric and hilarious.

When I first saw her leaning over that verandah I thought it was old Lizzie Birdsworth (Shelia Florance in Prisoner). The character of Molly reminded me a lot of her.
