A movie with Budget: $4,000,000 Wow

This movie is very cool i never thought it was a low budget, how could they made such great movie ? it a lot better than a lot of high budge movie which cost > 100 million dollars .

You can save a lot of money if you do not pay high salaries to big name actors (and with the budget I assume L.F. worked for the minimum amount). Also besides the last quarter of the movie there were not many special effects, the sets mostly were the desert and some old building.. so not much in terms of different locations either.

It sure didn't look like a micro budget film.

I thought the same thing about Chronicle, it had a relatively low budget for what it was and how much it profited.

Unfortunately at this hour BoxOfficeMojo says it only made $60,000. Sequel? Probably not.

According to this page it grossed 64$ Million Domestic.

Am I reading this wrong?

So according to the link:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=chronicle2012.htm

It had a budget of 12 million
Made 64 million domestic
And 126 million worldwide

I think a bunch of the budget went toward the *money shot* in the very last scene.

Because of the advances in digital camera technology, you can shoot a film for one million dollars and have it look great because of the quality of the camera. The film itself is very cheap, though. That doesn't make it a bad movie, but it does look like it's budget is really small.

Are you kidding me? Is 4 million USD considered low budget? This page says "low budget" is about 2.1 million USD: http://stephenfollows.com/how-much-do-low-and-micro-budget-films-cost/

That's extremely low budget. Low budget in Hollywood is considered 30 Million. There's so much money involved in getting movies made.
