Lawerence Fishburn's weapon
Why use a gun? you are an AI alien life form? Why use a gun?
shareFor the same reason why he only took his helmet off at the end.
shareThe aliens are peaceful. They are trying to figure out how to help mankind let go of homicidal fear of aliens even as they search for alien life. They are also trying to figure out how to help mankind accept their gifts of technology without using them as weapons. They use a gun because its the only weapon available, courtesy of man. They don't need weapons. Any sentient race that is unable to forgo violence simply is left to extinction on its rock. They don't need to fight it.
Opinion Overload
I'm thinking that I agree with you. They use an "earth gun" because they do not have weapons. This explains why the gun is being kept in a special red case. Red for danger. (Color is very important to them.)
This is my siggy. It appears, automagically, when I post.
i'm not even sure why they bother with a pistol in a red case. maybe because damon is the only one authorized to execute subjects?
but it's just funny when a pistol is put in a red case and you see the guards sporting fully automatic machine guns and grenade launchers... lol.
one thing i'm wondering though is if those guards are all robotic aliens like damon or not. they certainly seem to behave more human than damon as well as not being crazy like the other test subjects.
maybe they're hired help from earth and was convinced to join as guards?
also, what exactly is this contagion they were supposedly infected with? we know why the doctors are in hazmat suits as revealed by damon at the end but why were the guards wearing gas masks in open air? one could only assume that they would be wearing them pretty much all day out there which makes no sense.
