Reminds Me A lot of 'Dark City' SPOILERS

Just finished watching this film last night. Overall I enjoyed it.

I did find the ending, and by extension the entire premise, to be very similar to the 1998 film "Dark City."

"Dark City" centered on a small group of human beings, including one who had been gifted with amazing powers, being placed on a large experimental structure in space by aliens.

In "Dark City", the major twist near the end was three human beings finding out that they were not on earth by breaking through a barrier.

In both films, the gifted human being uses his mysteriously acquired powers to combat his imprisonment by the aliens.

What does everyone think? Did the writers of "The Signal" borrow stuff from "Dark City"?

It's similar, but the aliens are different with different motivations.

In Dark City they seem to want to learn something from the humans in order to survive. The aliens are eventually wiped out.

In The Signal the protagonist simply does the experiment as well as expected. There is no "victory" for the protagonist. The aliens are still there. We don't know if they simply kill him after the experiment is over. We never learn why the aliens are even doing this.

I liked both movies
