The movie is not that strange. 1984, Brazil, Pi, Fantastic Planet, Cube, Eraser Head, Fritz the Cat, Metropolis, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Akira, Forbidden Planet etc are weird films. The Signal was quite tame in comparison.
