Gaby Hoffmann's character is why people

who are against abortion (and even some normal folk who are pro-choice) generally dislike pro-choice people. They're ugly people. They have ugly beliefs and express themselves in an ugly manner.

They are angry before there's even reason to get angry. That rant she went on was ridiculous. She's angry at a guy she doesn't even know and for what? The notion of simply telling him Donna is pregnant? Who gets angry over that? What a psycho. It's all about me, me, me with whackos like that. The irony is people like that go after the father hard if they decided to keep the child. They want to control everything and everyone involved. It's their body, their child, as if they had an immaculate conception. I despise people like that.

I always thought ugly people were the ones who were judgemental of others. This is a bizarre post. There's no perfect pro-choice or anti-choice person.

What's so hard to grasp about me not liking her beliefs and the way she carries herself? And by beliefs I'm not talking about being pro-choice, I'm talking about the fact she felt the father of a child had no rights whatsoever and the way she went about expressing that. Shut up with that "my body, my choice" bullsh-t. It's self-centered. There's at least 3 people involved in a pregnancy and all that character can talk about is herself? F people like that. I don't even object to the abortion, it's her ugly opinions and way she expresses them I don't care for. You want to talk about judgmental, look at her character.

In the movie, her views might be childish and despicable, but the father-to-be didn't make any reasonable calls how the post-birth situation would be. It was rather a stand for his rights, then how reality will change his life too.

The problem is, that there is no binding right for a father to pay up when the child is born. Just move to Mexico or Canada, what do you care about your moral high horse some month ago? Many do that, this is nothing new.

Other countries made it much more difficult to skip on fatherly payments; Europe gets you now everywhere, even Canada - and with some wrangling, the US. That's probably the reason that most EU-countries reverted their position on prescription-less availability of contraceptions and "the morning after pills" - even in stark religious areas. Its probably one of those "don't judge me what I'm saying, judge me for what i'm doing"-things.

As soon morale hits your paycheck, one of both probably has to go out of the window.

But why is the 'my body. my choice' philosophy so hard to understand? It may be self-centered, but so are most people, most of the time!

I'm pro choice and agree with you.
And I assume when you say "ugly" you mean an ugly personality, Because Gaby Hoffman's character was horrible. The fact she just assumes her friend is going to get an abortion. The whole the guy doesn't need ti know thing.

I think the casual attitude towards abortion in this movie did a disservice to pro-choice people.

And even as a pro-choice person, I didn't like the fact that she didn't really even consider keeping the baby, it made her seem very heartless. I'm not saying abortion is heartless, but to joke about killing it was so distasteful.

But then again that attitude proved she was in no way ready to be a mother and it was a good thing she got that abortion.
