Max The Serial Killer
In the movie we are supposed to believe that Max is this genuine nice guy. Frankly, I didn't buy it. There is something off about him. He is too polite. Too handsome. Too perfect. Too always there...
What do we really know about Max?
When Donna first meets Max at the comedy club he claims he was there with clients. We never see these clients. Do they even exist? We later find out that Max is sort of Donna's mother's "teacher's pet". If they are close enough to exchange books, perhaps she may of talked to him about her daughter that sometimes does comedy.
I propose this. Max has a crush on Donna's mother. She is his inspiration. However, the feelings aren't mutual. So he turns his attention to Donna, stalks her for a while before finally making his move at the comedy club. He makes up this phony story about clients to divert attention from the fact he is alone at a bar and far away from home.
After the one night fling the next time we see Max he casually walks into her book store. What the hell is he doing there? Donna does not remember telling him she worked there. Seriously, again, what the hell is he doing there? It is all very convenient for him to say, "you were drunk so you don't remember".
Finally the third time we see Max is at her mother's apartment and Max proclaims, "I swear, I'm not a stalker." Yeah, right.
I feel the movie ended a little early. Like the next scene would have been Max chopping off Donna's fingers and mailing them to her mother. Was I the only one to see it this way?
