Israel

I really miss Israel...I like him better then the stars of the show. I only watch to see the staging at the end!

I miss Israel, too - but I think he may be in other episodes?

reply

I prefer Israel to the other contractors, much more personable. Noticed this season, they have their own construction and design company, TC Construction. Israel has his own gig going so he likely didn't want to jump ship.

We are watching the new ones slowly. Right now, we are up to season 5, Episode 3. So far, with Christina in the pregnancy phase, I haven't seen Israel yet. Is he gone?

Someone said he has his own gig... does that mean he has his own show? Or does that mean he has his own company so he is doing his own gig that way...

Just curious, are we going to see him anymore?

reply

Yes....I really liked Izzie too!

reply

He seemed like such a sweet guy. Always so sincere. I really trusted him. Some of the other contractors seem a little shady.

reply

I like Israel too, I do like him more than the other contractors on this show...I'm sort of disappointed that Israel doesn't appear on the show as often anymore though, it's probably because he's too busy flipping other houses.

reply

Israel's still around. He was on last night's new episode. He's awesome, I like him too.

reply

I know he is still around, I meant he just doesn't appear as often anymore...I remember in the first season, he appeared in every episode, then gradually he appeared less and less and they started hiring other contractors. I suppose Israel became increasingly busy with all other house flips.

EDIT:

Actually I've been re-watching this show lately and Izzy actually appears in almost every episode in season 2, not season 1...in S1 they had hired a different contractor numerous times too (forgot his name) besides Izzy, I think it was only started from S2 that Izzy became their usual contractor.

reply

Yeah, I saw one of Christina's instagram posts back in May that said they were flipping 15 houses simultaneously! That's way more at once than I would have guessed.

reply

They seem to have so many projects going on that they have to hire different contractors to take care of them. I'm sure Izzy is still a part of that somewhere, but I get the feeling the show only shows us the more interesting projects, and that's not necessarily the ones he's working on. Earlier seasons they seemed to be doing one at a time or so, so he was working all their projects.

I'm so ugly...that's ok 'cause so are you.

reply

Yeah that makes sense, if they have so many flip projects to work on simultaneously, it makes sense to hire multiple different contractors. I'm sure Israel is still working with the couple on at least 1 other house even when he doesn't appear on the show. Afterall, I remember Tarek once said in season 1 or 2 that Izzy is their usual contractor...so I guess Izzy is usually the couple's first choice, and they only hire other contractors when Izzy is too busy.

Even for a lifestyle show like this, producers still want drama to draw more interest from viewers, so it's understandable if HGTV mainly airs the more 'interesting' projects/houses the couple are flipping, and usually that means the houses that are in the worst conditions and in desperate need of the most renovations. Because it's more interesting to watch the couple take these totally run-down, extremely ugly, problematic & disastrous houses, and transform them into almost brand new homes. Because as Tarek has said on the show, the bigger the disaster, the better the makeover.

I like the other guys, they are ok but Izzy is by far the best.

I could see Izzy having his own show.
