'Totally obsessed'

I really enjoy the show. It's fun, if unrealistic. (Seriously, $10,000 to totally gut and redo a kitchen with high end finishes in California??) I am, however, totally tired of Christina being "totally obsessed" with every decorating idea she comes up with. Come on, girl, you can do better than that!

She really overuses that phrase. She even says "Buyers will be totally obsessed with ....." I don't think she knows what that word means.

reply

I'm watching an episode right now and she has been "totally obsessed" FOUR freakin' times so far, and we still haven't made it to the reveal. She needs to go to overused phrase rehab.

reply

But how many times has Tarek said something is "a nightmare"?

I'm so ugly...that's ok 'cause so are you.

reply

Obsessed is a very strong word--too strong to apply to floors, or backsplashes, or subway tile, or anything that Christina says she is totally obsessed with.

One other thing I hate is Tarek also talking about getting "top dollar." It sounds so greedy. What's wrong with a fair price? A nice profit? The Property Brothers are constantly talking about "top dollar," and I just hate it.

I love when Tarek describes some "tragedy" that's supposedly going to set them back 1000's or completely derail the project. But he says it so emotionlessly that he is completely unconvincing. Definitely needs a few acting lessons!

reply

I agree. It's so obvious they are trying to act out a scene for the cameras. They are both terrible actors. It is also clear that Christina overdoes her repulsed face and disgusting comments. They follow a formula but I guess it works.

Ooooh, you wicked, wicked monkey! Robin Williams in Mrs. Doubtfire

And the tone of her voice is like nails on a chalkboard! That coupled with her Valley Girl accent and uptalking is just so annoying!

reply

They both say "literally" a lot, too. "This tile is literally on sale," or something like that.

I'm not the grammar cops, so misusing a word doesn't bug me. It's just that they both say it so often!

reply

They're actually using the word correctly. They just overuse it or use it when it's not necessary.
