Why don't they ever negotiate with the contractors. Seems like the contractors just come up with figures off the top of their head, and bingo, it's done. I've had work done to my home, and my and my contractor almost came to blows a few times. Just doesn't seem realistic.
There's been a few episodes where Tarek says "okay we want to do x,y,z in this room" the contractor says "okay, ballpark that'd be 8-10K" and Tarek will do a double take and go "really? That's usually 4, maybe 5 max".
Keep in mind they use the same 3-4 contractors repeatedly. They are probably past the negotiation phase and have standard costs for things
Exactly they do so many flips and worked with so many contractors they know the cost of things and who does the best job and so on. It's not like they are some homeowner wanting to do some remodeling and looking for a contractor.
