Was any aspect of the show ever real?

Did they really buy with their own money?

Did the homes really sell for those amts and at the time they stated?

Did they really net the profits that are stated on the show?

Were the homes really that trashed or were most (all?) of the sub-plots just staged for drama?

Where does the "reality" in this reality TV show end, and where does the fakeness begin? I'd really like to know. Can anyone separate fact from fiction with regards to Flip or Flop?

I would really like to think they actually had a business flipping houses, like they say in the intro. And maybe they heard somewhere that some producers wanted to hire real people that actually flip houses and feature them on a show. And they got picked to star in said show. I find it hard to believe after all this time that Tarek gets so shocked when a house needs a new roof or new wiring after they do a walk through and the house is just trashed. You would think with his extensive knowledge he would look at the roof at the beginning so he wouldn't be so shocked. I also hate how they always over pay for these houses. They offer maybe $10000 less than asking and always end up paying asking. Well, not always but a lot of the time. I have no idea what's fake or real. Sorry, I was no help LOL!

Yo,
I agree, Fake in that;
Federal taxes are never addressed in "profit".
Their construction company was not cited in earlier years, thus work estimates are Very understated. If I paid Izzy for a non-magnificent powder room remodel, the cost would be much higher.

HGTV management wipes it's hands of the seminars and El Moussas' participation, although the network or program is almost always mentioned in seminar advertisements.
"...HGTV senior vice president Audrey Adlam tells me: "HGTV, its sister networks, and Scripps Networks, LLC are not associated or affiliated with Flip Advantage/Success Path, and we are not involved in the El Moussas' association with Flip Advantage/Success Path. HGTV has no further comments to share about the seminars..." by Dave Lieber, The Dallas Morning News

Trashed homes are a typical script Bullet point for many other BS flip shows including Flipping: Boston, Vegas, San Diego, etc.
More, but I am just wasting my time discussing a fake program.

I understanod that a friend helped them make a dem tape that they sent to the network which they eventually got their show...lots of fakery going on for sure

Now that all the blatant fakery of this show has been exposed, I wonder if they would really continue to film episodes under the "happy family" pretense. Seriously, if they are going to continue as a separated couple/divorcees, I think it would be awkward, maybe inappropriate, to continue to drag their kids into the show, at the very least.
