Surprised

I'm not sure if it's because I was expecting the movie to be awful, but I was (very slightly) surprised by this.

No, this is not a good movie, but it did get a few things right. The last of the 3 segments was decent; I won't say it's 'great' as I've read others claim but it was enjoyable. The first two segments were not good. However, the director did accomplish a great tone in all three. There was a sense of dread that you could feel even through the horrible acting and questionable script.

What really surprised me was the ending. The bleak, grim conclusion which contained a couple of well-executed scares. The lead actress (forgive me for not checking her name) was convincing and definitely the most engaging of the cast members. The section with the television [no spoilers here] was well done and, again, well acted.

Overall, this is a missed opportunity but I don't think its to much fault of the writer/director. He is early in his career it seems, and with some polishing and experience I think he could churn out some nice films. Sadly, I can't say I will recommend this particular title or give it another watch, but it's interesting to see glimpses of talent and a potential for a great storyteller.

If I were to rate this movie, it would fall somewhere between 2/3 out of 10.
