An HONEST Review....
Let me start off by saying I've followed this filmmaker since his first short film the 9th circle which I saw for the first time on YouTube about 6 years ago. The guy has serious talent but after watching his first feature film I believe even after 6 years in the business he has A LOT to learn. I originally pre ordered this movie off amazon when it was 19.99 plus tax and shipping once I saw the price go down I cancelled my order and reordered the film at 9.99 plus tax and shipping, I'm really happy I did that because this movie wasn't worth more then 10 bucks. Here is my HONEST review. I capitalize honest because I think a lot of these 5-4 star reviews that Ive read on amazon and such are from people the filmmaker knows, such a relatives, friends and even the actors in the film. I also say honest because my review is in no way immature or disrespectful or crude to the director of the people involved in making the movie. Though I don't think the movie was awful it is by no means excellent or a phenomenal picture. It is a typical straight to dvd C rated horror film. Although I love anthology films like Creepshow, what I didn't get about this movie was why are you putting 2 short stories that have been out on YouTube for years and making it apart of this film? Why not make all new ORIGINAL short films so your fans are pleased with new entertainment? I was very disappointed when I had to sit through the 9th circle and Terrifier again since I've seen them both numerous times. I really enjoyed the wrap around baby sitter story, dispite the bad VHS tape choice and Bite off of the Ring. It was a cool story and had potential to be even better then it was. Katie McGuire is a terrific actress and I enjoyed her chemistry with the child actors who were also great. Terrifier is obviously my favorite short of the 3 stories that were watched on the tape if you cut out the main actresses god awful acting. When looking at her full filmography on imdb It is no surprise Terrifier is the only thing she's worked on. The Alien short was well...BAD. It did have the best looking actress and I found Ms. Callahan to be a good actress as well. I just didn't get why this short was used in this series of films. The Alien Segment of the film made All Hallows eve seem that much more rushed and confusing as well as not put together properly. Some other cons of the film...I thought some of the effects looked very fake like when the girl in the 9th circles arm gets chopped off, you could tell it was a fake arm and the blood looked terrible. I understand that short was made a long time ago but THAT is why the entire movie should of been new stories to prove the filmmaker could do better then past projects. The 9th circle was amateur at best so what is it doing in this new 2013 film? As far as the villians concerned, Dont get me wrong I think Art is a cool villian but being that I first saw Art the clown 6-7 years ago; that makes him old news, and it should make us wonder if Mr. Leone can make anything good without this character. It seems he only knows how to make stories with this clown. My last gripe with this film is how unoriginal it was. How do you go from making Terrifier which I thought was an excellent story to copying the Ring? This was the biggest disappointment to me. I recently read on the All Hallows eve facebook page that Mr. Leone is signed on to make a new feature film called Frankinstein vs. The Mummy. I am looking forward to this film; its a opportunity for bigger and better material and its a chance for this filmmaker to redeem himself to his fans. All in all "All Hallows eve" was ok. But its a great starter feature film to hopefully a promising career for the director. If he learns from his mistakes I think he can go very far.
