So Just Want to Make Sure If I Understood... The Stand connections

***spoilers***

so if i understood correctly, saving JFK leads eventually to having Captain Trips being released to the world causing a post-apocalyptic America?

Because in all the rubble, on the wall we see the word "Captain T..." written (exactly @ 34:19 of episode 8)

and Harry mentions how some of his family caught a flu and died

it can't be a coincidence? I know it's an Easter egg and all, but it felt like they were really trying to subtly but yet directly make the connection between 11-22-63 & The Stand

and if I got it right, then this is *beep* EPIC !!!

...also is it safe to conclude that Sadie's ex husband eventually gets devoured by Christine? lol

Sure. There's a few nods and easter eggs in this series. The time door itself for that matter.

"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"

Redrum too.

“Willoughby, sir? That’s Willoughby right outside. It’s July. It’s summer. It’s 1888.”

No, its just a reference. Captain Trips killed 99.4% of the Earth's population in just over three weeks. The world would have been empty, not post apocalyptic torn up if it had gotten free.

I think that depends on when Captain Trips gets released...as 0.6% of the population would be barely enough to keep the houses upkeep going, let alone office buildings, roads, dams and so-forth. If you didn't maintain "anything at all" for 5 years, the world would look like a mess. You'd see houses where just '1' pipe busts some winter that floods the hole house etc...Well, assuming water pressure remained...it would probably be a small leak of just whatever water was left in the line maybe...

Just look at places like New Orleans that were abandoned as real world examples.

Maybe but why would the people be wearing such crappy clothes and living in dumps and surrounded by boarded up houses? Everything would be free for the taking though there'd be food shortages after awhile. I don't think it was the superflu.

The crappy clothing is one of those things that might or might not occur. There would be a lot of clean, folded clothing in draws for the taking for the first few years; though they would disappear soon as who has seamstress skills to maintain clothing? Plus, who knows how to wash clothes by hands? It's not like you can repair your broken washing machine let alone your washing machine will work when there's nobody to maintain the city-water-systems. Assuming your pipes don't freeze the first winter with no heat...from you know, no power or gas...

I think people fail to realize how quick our society would fall apart if men with specialized skills in large numbers weren't around in large numbers to upkeep it. Especially if it were only millennials left, we would be screwed. There's so few millenial plumbers, electricians, instrumentation control technicians, gas fitters and so on that are skilled, fully trained and with experience.

I guess it depends 'when' the population dies off in this alternate timeline too...To use Harry as an example, if it happened when Harry was 15 or 20....and in the future he's 55 or so.....then it's 35 years post the population dying off. I know I don't have access 35 years of clean clothing. I do laundry at least once a week.

Of course, it's a guess and who knows. It would be cool if it were connected to the strand universe though.

I think there were more Dark Tower references in the book anyway.
When Jake returned back to 2016 after saving JFK,the color of the sky was weird and making noise.
I think somehow with JFK still alive it somehow stopped Roland from completing his mission in The Dark Tower and the final beam was ready to break...giving way to the end of the known universe.
