What a disaster. Why is Rachel and her crew the anchor?

Can you imagine if FOX News had Sean Hannity or Laura Ingraham instead of Brett Baier?

I'm watching this on YT and all they talk about is abortion, abortion, bomb threats, abortion, more bomb threats, russia, "no suprises...so far", ff, bomb threats, russia.

I think NBC NEWS needs to dissociate itself from MSNBC before it takes down the entire Network.

I wish the news would just report the news and not have an opinion about it.

I wonder where things went wrong there. I feel that somewhere around when 9-11 happened, CNN shifted from being mainly a talking head discussing news and various produced pieces, to being panels of "experts" offering their commentary and opinion. They introduced that news ticker at the bottom of the screen and often had big multi-paneled windows (like "The Brady Bunch") of all these suits just sitting there waiting their turn to offer 10-20 seconds of "insight" and frequently interrupt each other.

It's like our society had a collective dumbing-down around 2001 and it just kept getting worse.

This is part of it, but the long and short of it is that it doesn't cost as much to have "celebrities" validate your opinions in a studio than it does to do real news in the way people say they want.

reply

the "panel" of experts always cracks me up. they are all paid to spew whatever propaganda you want them too.

reply

thats an excellent question. I really didnt watch the news and didnt have time til around 2012 or so. by then, it was full blown propaganda by right and left news channels. it would be nice to check the archive of news prior to 2001.

no doubt people are getting dumber, it seems that more technology advances the more people get lazy and dumber. it someone sees a 8 second clip on tiktok they will instantly believe it to be true.

reply

Comcast is trying to spin off its cable networks into a separate company while keeping NBC News proper.

reply

I hope so. Because it was bad television.

How did she become the sole anchor of the broadcast?

Again FOX, didn't have Laura or Hannity anchoring their 8 or 9 hour broadcast.

If they did, it would be equally obnoxious.

reply

They usually have one or two main hosts with B listers around them.

FOX NEWS actually looked like a serious network compared to MSNBC.

Both election nights are on YT.

It's such a different lens watching the two.

The MSNBC 8 or 9 hour broadcast kept talking about bombs at election centers and Russia. Then they spent 3 hours on abortion until it didn't matter. Then the entire panel spent the two last hours in complete denial and then turned into a train wreck, blaming Russia and bomb threats (again). Followed by tears.

Again, it's like Laura Ingraham headlining the election coverage.

It was such a mistake.

For NBC News to even associate themselves with MSNBC is absurd.

They have some of the 1960 coverage online. Basically they said we know who's ahead in each state and when we know who won, we'll let you know. The 1980 election had the map colors reversed with Republicans in blue and Democrats in red. They were trying to tell people what shade of gray the state will look like on a black and white TV. Then they said the best thing people should do is buy a color TV.
