1910?
I don't think the movie takes place in 1910.
If they're talking about Aunt Elizabeth, it would be earlier in time. The clothes themselves are pretty much not past 1900 (huge leg-of-mutton sleeves).
And the younger Elizabeth's sister talks about bobbing her hair, something not thought of until the '20s. Plus, there is abundant electricity. The younger Elizabeth seemed fascinated by her aunt, as if she were alive decades ago, if it's only 20 years at most.
Why would they need a journal of Aunt Elizabeth? If it were only 20 years ago, wouldn't she still be alive, or a photograph available or written correspondence? I guess the family hated her since her journal was behind other books in the bookcase.
