The book series this show is based on came out in the 1980's, before Dr. Quinn.

True, but one thing I will definitely agree with, this show "When Calls the Heart" makes the 'old west' look just as clean as Dr Quinn did. For such a sparsely populated town, the buildings all look new, the streets are uber clean & nicely graded. (No horse 'apples' & very little mud, dust, hills, etc., which is surprising for 1914 or whatever..lol)

That 'orphan boy' made me wonder if Macaulay Culkin hooked up with any Canadian girls about a decade or so ago, since most of the actors are Canadian...lol  but anyway, I agree that he & his sister were very clean for orphans living on the run for even a few days.

Everyone looks so spiffy. Hair and makeup perfect. Not realistic if that is the old west. And doubt wearing all those pale colors would've happened back then. They would've found them hard to keep clean.

My thoughts exactly! Especially about Elizabeth's beautiful, and remarkably dust free, pastel dresses & skirts. 

When Calls the Heart makes me miss Dr. Quinn. Michaela Quinn was so independent and strong. Elizabeth frets and needs rescuing all the time.

Elizabeth was rescued by Jack a total of three times, one from Mr. Spurlock, one from that outlaw gang, and then from a falling beam in the mine. I'm not against the occasional damsel in distress, but sheesh!

LOL what woman wouldn't want to be rescued by Daniel Lissing???? Its a tv show....what do you expect?

This woman would rather be rescued by Joe Lando and rescue Joe Lando a few times as well.

I guess I expect a woman who claims she can take care of her own stubbed toes to not often be a damsel in distress.
