Season 2 is a huge turn off for us!

We fell in love with this show in season 1, but season 2 is a train wreck. Where do I begin....

1. Sloppy writing
2. New actors
3. New characters
4. Hair, make-up clothing issues
5. Always confused. Canada? USA?

The scenes back east in Hamilton are a major bore and distraction. Is this the same Hamilton Ontario we all know? I never knew it was the North American epicenter of aristocracy and elitism.

Can you imagine the 2nd season of Little House on the Prairie, and they all went back to Boston, or somewhere else--to visit family??

They killed the whole vibe of the town and the setting. The setting was what drew us to the show in the first place.

Finally, if Elizabeth is supposed to be the heroine and everything centers around her---then the writers have failed. She is back east having mansion picnics while the mine trial is going on, the church is being built, the school is being built, the lumber mill is being built. By the time she gets back, she better not go around go around trying to tell people what they should do and not do. Obviously, I am only part way through season 2. Just thought I would chime and and see if anyone agrees with me. Nevertheless, Elizabeth remains as shallow of a person in season 2 as she was in Season 1, episode 1.

Finally, I will say that I like the Mountie's character, but Elizabeth---not so much. Abigail is the true beauty and star of the show for me. It is her life and her story is what is most interesting. Elizabeth would do well to be half the woman that Abigail is.....

Ok.....help me out. Claire, Abigail's new daughter-in-law......wasn't she made a widow because her husband...Abigail's son died in the mine also?

If so....why is she poor and destitute and an indentured servant in Hamilton? And where is her money? Her 1/47 of the mine settlement money?

I hope I am wrong and misunderstood her situation when she showed up at the mine trial to testify. But if I am correct, then Abigail is a thief because the judge gave her the satchel full of the intended bribe money to go to the widows. Why did Abigail not give her an envelope with her cash...her 1/47th?

All these widows should be set for life, given the money they have been awarded.

The writers did us a disservice when the judge announced the verdict and only said "maximum allowable damages awarded" rather than give us a dollar amount. I estimate that there was 50k dollars in the bribe satchel....giving each widow 2k each.....which would be a fortune in 1910...not to mention the share of the judgement from the mine company settlement.

This is the poor writing I am talking about. If someone tells me that her dead husband was not one of the 47 dead miners, I will not be offended. But from what I saw and heard, I came to that conclusion. But if I am correct---then Abigail is a thief!

And I hate to say it because I love her...!

If I am correct, and I am thinking that Abigail is a thief, wrongly....then the writers only have themselves to blame!

I think the main problem, of why Abigail kept her son's share of the money after his death in S1 was because he'd secretly gotten married & she had no idea he'd left a widow behind. As well, I don't think the young widow knew at the time that she should've received a percentage of the money from the wrongful death lawsuit the widows won after the mining accident.

I remember the moment in S2 when the young widow met Abigail, who was entirely surprised that her son had run away to the city and married that girl just before the accident.

Well, Clara was there for the trial & verdict. She was the key witness, after all. She knew the widows were awarded money. Clara left town after the trial, and if I remember correctly, after Abigail was given the reward money. Even if she left before, both she and Abigail knew Clara was widow & deserving of her share of the money. So I don't think she "kept" Clara's money.

How about the hobbies disappearing entirely? No more drawing for Jack. No more journaling for Elizabeth. Those endearing hobbies that helped us better understand the characters are history.

Instead, time is wasted on the annoying Rosemary and her asinine "advice" column, a contrived excuse by the writers to give her more face time.

Let's hope Season 3 gets the series back on course.

I agree. I watched Season 1 three times before I moved onto Season 2 and it doesn't even seem like the same show. Many of the things that were charming about the show are now overshadowed by other things. All of a sudden they have modern looking hair (and hair colors), tons of makeup, etc. I liked that Elizabeth journaled and sent letters to her family and that Jack would draw photos and hang out with his dog. It was all very sweet and simple and they were all there together fighting for their livelihood. Now there's fake drama, the elite Hamilton town that Elizabeth has spent most of the season in, and I just really don't like all the extra (and unnecessary) characters. They need to tone it down and get back to what made the show so charming and inviting. Otherwise, I will quickly lose interest.

agree with everyone on the lack of continuity with season 2...and the show writers getting away from what was working...and elizabeth made some serious mistakes, aside from leading on charles. hopefully, she will get back on track in season 3.

My 8-year old daughter and I binge-watched five episodes of season 2. We LOVED season 1 and couldn't wait for it to come back. Tonight I asked her if she missed the humor from last year. She responded, "Yeah! I miss going like this: <giggles>." Exactly. No more inside jokes, just the foolishness of Rosemary.

Elizabeth regressed in character and is difficult to like as a high society woman in Hamilton.

We are no longer looking forward to the next season.

The latest episode, a 2hr TV movie that aired near the first of the year, did bring all of the drama back to Hope Valley, rather than Hamilton. The town now looks pristine, and Rosemary is still there, but its not bad. They even had drama involving Elizabeth's school again, and a would be student she tried to help.

I'm only halfway through the 2nd season but... I pretty much agreed with everything mentioned above. I miss all the first season seasonings. And all the Hamilton scenes were pretty junky. Elizabeth mindlessly messing with Charles was a super turnoff but things seem to be shaping up again with episode 5. Elizabeth back in Hope Valley and her and Jack back together. Even Rosemary who was always just kind of a bearable and sometimes funny new character seemed to become kind of necessary by this episode. I have hope that it will continue to get better from here on. Second seasons can be tricky sometimes but still love-able. I'm happy it's been renewed. Something to look forward to after I finish this season.
