Help! Need the ending for the first episode

I wasn't able to catch the ending of who wrote "Forgive me, father" and why. Please help!

It belonged to Lori Loughlin's character...but she donated it to the whole town in the end.

I just watched for the first time. How did they figure out it belonged to her??

While at Abigail's house for dinner, he looked at a painting done by Noah Stanton, Abigail's husband. The signature on the painting had a flourish on the N in Noah which matched a flourish on the m in Me on the sign. Jack asked Abigail about it and she knew all along but didn't feel right about having something to remember her husband when no one else did. This is what lead her to donate it to the town.

There's more to this smile than meets the eye...
