Just tuned in for the first time. Can somebody please explain how the boy knew and how Lori Loughlin's character knew that the etched plank was from her husband??

The boy didn't know. Abigale knew because she recognized her husband's writing. Jack found out when he saw Noah Stanton's signature on the painting.
