So disappointed

i love the Oke books, and while the Love Comes Softly movies played fast and loose with the story, at least it felt somewhat realistic.

This is just ridiculously bad. The hair, clothes, and makeup for starters. But come on...the younger sister and her love of dangerous young men? The fake preacher, completely naive townspeople, and what the heck was up with Bill Avery's wife? She looked like she was right out of a 2015 movie set.

Color me disappointed, and losing interest.

Guess you better find something else to watch on Saturday nights. Bye-bye. 

I agree. The first season was great. I'm a big fan of that period (1912) in history and it WAS pretty much on the mark and the stories were believable. Since we had to wait over a year between season 1 and 2, you would think it would be at least as good as last season...but...no. So so so many inaccuracies. Brass plates on the wall looked like they were from the Brady Bunch set...and they used them more than one. Language (sayings), clothing and other things inaccurate for the time period. The stories are just plain strange. Hopefully they will read the viewer reviews and get back to the good old show.

I've liked visiting with Elizabeth in her home element and what a contrast to Coal Valley from her perspective. I may be alone in this view, but I see her getting uncomfortable with her surroundings at home.

She's sensing now the superficiality of her wealthy family because she found so much meaning in CV and with its people. There were so many elements in E3 that I saw which are giving Elizabeth reasons to slowly begin uprooting herself from home. And it's a decision she makes all by herself and her love for her biological family stays true. She indulges them and looks out for them.

But Coal Valley has changed her. From S1E5, the town has a way of doing that. She's found a different sort of family there and it is their call that her heart will answer, not her Hamilton family's loving call, and I think tonight's episode will play this out.

**SPOILER**** the sneak peak in the Hallmark website for tonight's episode between Elizabeth and Viola is what gives me hope. Elizabeth asks her sister who is looking forward to taking her place in society as the wife of an English Earl, "Is that all there is to life?"

Already enjoying the writing in S2. And I can live with the uptick in the the glam. I've shared my peace with Brian Bird and will follow up with Hallmark after the season is over. A good fan will do that. ;)

I'm starting to get irritated with Elizabeth. I miss seeing her with all her students! She also doesn't seem to be missing Coal Valley at all since she hasn't said a word about returning there.

I was crushed when the movie came out. I have loved the books for years. Don't get me started on Love Comes Softly my favorite book series. I've learned to love the movies but still favor the books.

I just wasn't ready for it to be totally different. Not a little different like Love Comes Softly but completely different.

I love the books and love how Elizabeth adapts to her situation. I admire her so much and as I was grew in my early 20s I often pictured myself adapting to my own life changes.

The books are so good! I'm giving the series another try though. I've only seen a few episodes and rewatching episode 1 now with an open mind as I did with Love Comes Softly.

I agree! I'm so glad to find a thread about the books. I looked and looked hoping to find fans of the books. I have enjoyed the first two seasons though. The stories and characters have grown on me.
