Incoherent might be a better name for this movie. The concept was good, but the directing and script were awful.
Premise: A cast of characters gather for a dinner party, only to have strange events unfold outside the house as a comet passes overhead.
* Odd but minor things start to happen and the assembled characters start to panic to a disproportionate degree. They soon decide that the cause must be based on advanced physics concepts based on a convenient book that explains it all for them.
* It becomes painfully obvious that the actors were told to improvise the dialogue at times. Long scenes of them trying to talk over each other as they try to move the story along with no idea of where they are supposed to go with it. This takes up about a third of the movie. (BTW, once the nature of the strange events is revealed, you can often guess in advance what is about to happen.)
* "We should go outside this room into the night and check out this strange thing happening!" A couple of characters leave, the remainder carry on with the improvised dialogue. Characters return with little to reveal. Variations of this scene are replayed repeatedly.
* Some scenes are unintentionally funny. One group encounters their doppelgangers. They stare silently at each other across the dark street for a half-minute. It's unsettling until both groups abruptly run away from each other in panic.
iii. When the scripted parts kick it, they stand out in start contrast to the improvised parts for the precision of their dialogue.
iv. As events get weirder and weirder, characters suddenly stop freaking out to take a nap, try to re-kindle an affair, etc. The tonal shift are dramatic.
Really, this was just a 30-minute Twilight Zone episode jammed into 90 minutes or so.
Not even recommended for comedic relief.
