Cute and funny, nostalgic, crass, and heartwarming all at once

I couldn't decide how I felt about this movie in the beginning, but as I watched it grew on me more and more. At first it felt like it was trying hard to do what Clerks was very good at: dense dialog that was both sincere and theatrical. The characters seemed very formulaic: the nerdy kid after the hot girl, his even more dorky friend and the third musketeer who is the Joey-from-Friends type of wiseguy tough-guy cool-guy. But I ended up liking them all.

This movie has all this goopy feel-good nostalgic vibe, but it sprinkles lots of pretty decent laughs in it too. I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would.

It sucked hard, one of the most crappy neo 80ies flick so far, it didn't felt like the real 80ies for those who knew that time. No way the main character could have a chance with the hot chick, movie nerds didn't talk like that, the fake movies are embarrassing to watch. Watch Summer of 84 instead.

I saw Summer of 84 a long time ago, don't remember it much but I think I had liked it.

I would recommend Snack Shack, takes place in 1991 but similar vibes. And also This is the Night, about some kids excited to see the premiere of Rocky III.

Yeah it wasn't too believable but I still got some nostalgic good feels from this one.
