So offensive

I don't understand the reviews of this film. "Pro-feminist"?! "We end up loving the stranger a little bit"?! So her partner was abusive, and the stranger punishes him, and he is gentle to her in some ways, but he still took control of a woman's body against her will, sexually assaulted her, forced himself on her. I don't understand the point of this film. The whole "rescue a woman from her abusive partner by taking her against her will, sexually assaulting her, then manipulate her into developing feelings for you because women are idiots" thing is so offensive and ridiculous. Utter misogynistic drivel.

I can't disagree more with your post, lol. I can see your point of view and understand how you can arrive to such conclusions, but I believe this film can be extremely subjective to the viewer.

Out of all of the by the numbers home invasion films and even some torture porn genre flicks I thought this was brilliant in the way it flipped the plot upside down. I see it as a couple who had went through the tragedy of losing their daughter, I see a husband that is very abusive, treating his wife like a toy and not giving a damn about her needs and feelings and to make matters worse all the while cheating with her best friend. Then I see a wife who suffered through the tragedy of losing her daughter and was being treated like a doormat, suffering daily abuse by her husband and all the while blind to the reality of her situation. Then comes the antagonist into the picture who may or may not be the husband of the woman that is cheating with the husband. He did sexually assault her to some degree, not intercourse but more or less it seemed he was out to awaken her to the reality of her horrible relationship with her husband(I don't think rape was a part of his plan at all), which worked out just perfectly.

So in the end everyone seems to have been enlightened to the reality of their lives.
This was a very original take on this type of film imo, normally I am furious during scenes where a man invades a home and has his way with them, I was actually fond of the
the key maker antagonist in the end, he managed to expose a horrible relationship and set things on the right track without doing any real physical or psychological damage to the woman. In a sense he freed and empowered her from a very dire situation and I was left with a positive vibe when the film ended.

Ok put it this way, I was much more pleased with the state of affairs at the end than the way they were at the beginning. Props to the writer for delivering something fresh and edgy on a difficult subject.

Women ARE dumb. You should volunteer at a domestic violence shelter.
