Strangely Effective

Entertaining stuff.

Replacing the tug of war with battleships was a good move.

reply

yeah I'm enjoying it, although I think it would be better if they focused more on games and gave a little less screen time to all the horrible personalities, there's not one likeable person in the bunch.

on the other hand, seeing some of the most annoying fools get eliminated is very satisfying

reply

The eliminations have no logic. The chick Cheney eliminated the guy with an advantage. She didn't realize he could've been on her team. SMH

reply

yeah I was shocked by that, I didn't even think they'd be able to choose the others who have boxes.

she cried all the way through and made herself out to be a victim while she was coldly eliminating the only half decent people.

I can't stand drama queens like her so I'm really hoping she gets eliminated in a very embarrassing way

reply

I think that was an oversight. They shouldn't have let her eliminate him. Next season they will have temporary immunity, I hope.

reply

I loved that so much. I think I will re-watch that episode.

reply

They should have replaced the games with other games in general. It is not like there are not plenty of other games more often played in the western world. This cookie game i have never heard before at all and it was absolutly stupid to not alter it at all. I was really expecting, that they had changed the start because they want to trick the players. Would be so much better if all the idiots cheering to have the ball just realize that they have to do the fucking star. And the star people get the ball. This had been such a payoff for the stupid start of the game.

reply

The cookie game was from the original south korean show, as was the green light, red light. If you didn't watch it, you should, it was pretty brutal and things will make more sense. At least watch the 1st episode.

reply

Of course I watched it, you can assume everyone watched the series before they applied for the show. So everyone knows how shitty the cookie game is. By subverting the expectations they could have made the dynamics at the start of the game much more interesting. The first few people were just dropped, because no one wanted to be the star, so they had to do already one shitty decision here. By rewarding the group which took the star and farting into the face of the circle alphas, the game could have shown to be unpredictable like the series. Now we know all the games basically work as before, the series showed best survival tactics already => boring. The cookie game was boring, because EVERYONE was licking the damned cookie like in the show, no one tried biting or so, as it was shown in the series as inefficient.
The result of the picknick was also relatively clear, so clear, that I expect it was completly staged, because no one was seen to take an advantage partner, but many took their BBFs like the mother and son.

reply

The 1st season usually has problems, the 2nd season should be better. They will most likely make changes for the better.

reply

This version was terrible imo.
Too much stupid dialogue like it's actually a real reality show (which I don't like or watch anyway).
People in challenges being interviewed in present tense in another room when clearly that is impossible.
And is Episode 5 supposed to be a cliff hanger for another series? Won't be bothering to watch it because if I do I might lose my marbles!
The Korean version leaves this for dead, pardon the pun.
Is it an American remake? If it is, it's just another example of Hollywood or whoever butchering up an original version of something.

reply

No, there's still 4 more episodes dropping on November 29. I don't know why they didn't leave empty episode slots.

reply

Yeah, that is weird. I'm not really phased as not that into it, but my girlfriend thought I was winding her up when I said there were no more episodes!

reply

Tread carefully with womens 🤣🤣🤣

reply

But the cookie game did have an interesting twist. In the Korean show, they were simply picking at random. But here, they knew that they needed to avoid the umbrella. That gave it more spice when people started turning on each other. Especially when the bedwetter started crying.

reply

I'm loving this, it's ridiculously entertaining.
