I wasn't familiar with any of the actors that make up PD and I'm surprised the show is as strong as it is. Jason Beghe as Hank Voight really carries it, what a solid character. He seems dirty as heck, but as the show goes on, he seems to be a real professional cop. At one time he says he's one of the only policemen who is willing to do what has to be done (?). A line I just heard was him telling his team to be honest with him. He says something like, You tell me the truth so I can lie for you. He shot some guy he hated while the guy was on his knees, claiming he was reaching for a gun in his waistband. It looks like he executed the guy, but he never had to pay the piper. Plus he's always pounding on some helpless suspect. I actually laugh at some of this stuff.

2 bad on the season 6 finale epi it looked like he shot kelton just 2 save the dept.

I've seen so many re-runs I get confused about what's going on. Everyone thinks he's dirty but he doesn't seem to be dirty. I just like the way he glares at people at looks like he's afraid of nothing. I don't even know who Kelton is. If we are in season 6 and it's a new ep I might not have seen this yet. I'm never sure when it's on or when The Voice is on instead, or whatever talent show they are running.

He looks and behaves like a gorilla at times which is fun. He tends to have the right intentions but is rather dark. It's a shame the show is losing that darkness. Kind of becoming light and cartoonish.

I don't watch the new eps when they come out, usually all the old ones in syndication. Saw a couple good ones from last February (S6) so I hope I don't agree.
Voight is always so sure of himself and he just fearlessly walks into situations. Everyone else has doubts. And with that voice and he looks pretty chiseled, I think he grabs your attention much more than the other characters. I really enjoy the show as a whole, and Platt's always fun, but simply for grabbing your attention, Voight seems to rule the roost.

He is absolutely mesmerizing!! It’s his show . He is so believable in this character. They all are, really.
