Fargo logic: men are idiots, women are smart

So triggered over a tv show 😆

There are more homeless men, because men don’t ask for help and they’ve made more contributions, because society didn’t hold them back for centuries and women don’t have “girl’s clubs” in the STEM field.

You’re reading too much into this show. It also has smart male characters and like most shows on TV, well developed ones too.

I did notice that but I don't think it was rammed home too much in the way that some programmes do.

For example Gus was shown as somewhat weak at the beginning, but he gained strength as he went on as he realised he had to protect his wife, daughter and unborn child from Malvo. When Malvo returns to Bemidji, Gus tells Molly not to go out on patrol and she agrees and he finds and kills Malvo despite not even being a cop anymore.

So in a way he became a stronger man because of the example of a strong woman; he wasn't weakened or emasculated by her.

A real sexist series would have Molly saying 'I'm a strong independent woman, no man tells me what to do' but in this show she agrees with him.

I am not sure I agree.

In season one, Malvo is likely the smartest character. Meanwhile, I wouldn’t call Gus “simple”. He was the one to ultimately find Malvo after all. I would also argue that there were quite a few female characters who were unintelligent that season.

In season two, the main hero is a male. His wife helps but he is the one who saves the day. Also, the events are kicked off by Kirsten Dunst’s character who was delusional and had a much smarter husband. Oh, and there was the mafia princess who slept around and got people killed.

As for season three, the street smart girlfriend eventually got herself killed and needed the help of a male character when getting her revenge. The female police officer was very smart but the season ends before we find out if she was successful in apprehending the equally smart male villain.
