Nods to "The Leftovers"?
Unless it's a plot point I'm missing, they've shown a couple scenes where items (Such as the automatic door) don't work for Gloria ("Am I even here?"). There is a similar crisis her character, Nora, is dealing with in The Leftovers (Items not working for her, such as the GPS).
